My name is Randolph âRandyâ Rose, and in 1964 my cousin Stephen Gano went to Thailand to serve in the United States military. While there, Steve discovered some amazing antiques at the villages he was stationed at.
He was so enamored by the pieces, and he wanted to share them with people back in the United States. So he started buying them up and sending them back home to his auntâs antique store in Greenwich Village, NYC.
Once he got back stateside, he started selling the antiques out of a Manhattan-based shop. Nobody else had really brought these Asian antiques to America before, and the response was terrific! So Steve even converted his home in Yonkers to an art gallery and started selling antiques there as well.
The business grew, and in the early 1970s Steve and I partnered to help meet the increasing demand. Steve would go back and forth to Asia to find more antiques, and I focused on the sales and operations back in the states.
Although he started in Thailand, Steve began to travel all throughout the Far East. He went to Hong Kong, China, Japan, Burma, Indonesia, India, and more.
Ever seen the show American Pickers, on The History Channel? The show is about two guys who travel around and look for collectibles and antiques they can resell. Well Steve was the original âAmerican Pickerâ, except he was hunting for even bigger treasures in Asia!
He would build relationships with the vendors, merchants, and residents of small towns and villages. He would go into shacks on the side of old country roads, looking to purchase the rarest items he could find.
He found everything you could possibly imagine. From ancient terracotta warriors, to Ming and Qing dynasty furniture, and even Buddhas from remote Burmese monasteries.
Now, decades later, we at FEA Home continue to carry on Steveâs legacy.

We have one of the largest collections of Asian antiques, art, and furniture in the country. Everything is housed in our showroom and warehouse facility in Yonkers, NY. Over 170,000 square feet packed with merchandise.
